Seattle Kitchen Remodel Dark Alder

Out with the old.

Dark stained clear alder was the wood and finish for this Seattle remodel. The dark colored cabinets with the stainless appliances accent eachother nicely. We use a two-step process to get the alder this dark. A dark-colored dye is applied to the raw cabinets and is quickly followed up by a dark brown stain. Stain alone looks great on wood but if you are looking for that rich dark color the dye is the key to achieving that look. The dye also does an amazing job helping the stain to be applied evenly.

The footprint and design of the kitchen didn’t change, but we were able to squeeze a little more room into the kitchen due to the way custom cabinets are constructed. Box cabinets consist of one cabinet each and that means wasted space. As you can see in the photo above the sink cabinet also has a bank of drawers connected to it allowing for just a little more space. In a kitchen, this size every inch counts.
